"Busquets naming Nico as his possible replacement? I think that Nico is a more offensive player," Xavi told Mundo Deportivo.
"He has an attacking mentality. More dribbling, more dividing, more attacking. For example, the role that Frenkie de Jong played this season," Xavi added.
Thus, Xavi doesn't see Nico Gonzalez as a replacement for Sergio Busquets. From the gaffer's speech, he believes Barca already have that attack-minded midfielder profile in Frenkie De Jong.
However, Xavi named three players who could replace the departing icon — Martin Zubimendi, Ruben Neves and Joshua Kimmich.
"Kimmich is a super talent and understands the fantastic game but if there is an open door from him there has to be negotiation," Xavi said.
"Zubimendi and Kimmich are top players in their position. Of course, Kimmich has a long contract at Bayern so the only chance would be to negotiate with them. This depends on Bayern."
"Ruben Neves? Well, he's a good player. Would he adapt to our style? We'll see. We have different names: plan A, plan B, plan C,"
It looks like Neves is only an alternative for Xavi. Reports say the gaffer would rather sign a Spanish midfielder like Zubimendi or a man with experience like Kimmich.
