Former Barcelona presidential candidate Victor Font came out to slam the club ownership for letting Lionel Messi leave and ultimately failing to bring him back.
"That Messi left and then did not return indicates a leadership problem," Font told ESPN.
"The numbers indicate that we have not overcome the debt problem...Barca are worse now than two and a half years ago. We have more expenses, more debt and less equity.
"There is no transparency. In the agreement with Spotify, in the construction of the Spotify Camp Nou with Limak, in the costs, in the commissions.
"Barca have €1bn operating losses in these two and a half years... And now we are going to Montjuïc.
"To make the necessary change at Barca, it's essential to change the form of governance and become more professional.
"It would be important for the club to open its hand to those of us who want to help Barca.
"I have not met Laporta even once; the only time there was that possibility, in a meeting, he was absent.
"The Messi issue is the biggest mistake they have made. We already said that with a casual approach, you don't lose a player like him. Creativity is needed, not magic or charisma.
"What Miami has done is what Barça should have done.
"Messi was a great solution in many ways. What was necessary had to be done for his return... And not fool people.
"Even Erling Haaland, with our homework done, Barca could have signed him," Font said.
Messi said he chose to go to Miami as Barca failed to guarantee he can be registered.
