ESPN: Barcelona struggling to find financing for player registrations after Barca studios deal faces complications

According to ESPN, Barcelona are now finding it harder than expected to find the necessary financing needed for them to register the new signings and contract renewals.

There are now ‘concerns’ about whether the likes of Ilkay Gundogan and Oriol Romeu can be registered before the La Liga season starts.

Last summer, the club decided to sell 49% of Barca Studios to socios.com (24.5%) and Orpheus Media (24.5%).

However, those companies have re-negotiated the percentage of their deals and left the club with needing to find another buyer.

Barca did reportedly find one in a German company who were ready to pay €65m for 16% and were on the brink of agreeing to that deal.

But it’s now stated that the confirmation on that is taking longer than expected due to some complications, with the parties yet to fully agree on the terms.

Joan Laporta & co will hope to finalize this agreement soon because they need the money from selling 16% of Barca studios to register their new arrivals as well as players who signed new deals this year.
