Barcelona sensation Lamine Yamal has taken La Liga by storm with some amazing performances at the start of the campaign.
However, he is yet to make his senior international debut and is eligible to play for either Spain or Morocco. He was born in Spain, but his father’s Moroccan nationality gives him the choice to represent them.
When asked if his son has yet decided which team wants to play for, Yamal’s father Mounir Nasraoui said: “My son has not made up his mind yet to play for Morocco or Spain... But I would be very proud if he played for Morocco.
“If he plays for Spain, I would be happy too because he is my son. He trained for many years to get to where he is.”
The choice is an interesting one for Lamal. He would arguably get a bigger role for Morocco and get to regularly play for them, but the extra competitiveness in the Spanish side will not guarantee that to them.
The 16-year-old is currently focused on developing his skills at Barca before deciding which national team he will opt to represent.
