'Bigger damage than 9/11': Tebas compares Rubiales' case to September 11 terrorist attacks

La Liga president Javier Tebas believes the 'reputational damage' done to Spanish football by embattled president Luis Rubiales is comparable to the Twin Tower terror attacks that hit the United States on September 11, 2001.

"Other things worry me, like the reputation of Spanish football," Tebas said when asked about the Rubiales saga.

"We all have to work to save our reputation year that has been terrible, it's the reality. It's going to cost us.

"We have gone from a suspended president to a resigned one. I am going to wait to hear his statements.

"I am not going to give an opinion on his management, which is already known.

"The reputational damage that is being done to Spanish football is terrible. It is the biggest news in the digital media in history. Greater than 9/11," the La Liga boss said.

Rubiales is now expected to resign over the scandal of kissing Barca Femeni icon Jenni Hemoso on the lips during Spain's World Cup celebrations.

However, Tebas is being completely insensitive with his comments considering that more than 3000 souls were lost in the Twin Tower terror attack back in 2001. There simply is no comparison with the Rubiales scandal today.
