When asked about his thoughts on whether Barcelona will sign him permanently next year after his loan spell expires, Joao Cancelo said: “My family knows that my dream club was always Barça.
“It was a risk to keep pushing for this move, for sure… but I only wanted FCB. It’s up to Barça (to make deal permanent) & my performances.”
“As if you perform, club usually want you to stay. If not, forget about staying. Priority: perform well, win titles, bring Barça back where they deserve and then we see whether I’m staying or not.”
It’s quite clear that Cancelo is hoping for a long-term future at Barca and for the club to sign him permanently next year once the loan spell expires.
The Portuguese defender has had an impressive start to his career so far and it remains to be seen if he can guide the club to any major titles this season.
