Was Felix wrong to criticise Simeone? Recalling what two Atleti legends said about him and the club

Joao Felix's latest 'bad environment' dig at Atletico Madrid and Diego Simeone wasn't welcomed by their fanbase.

If Felix is wrong, perhaps it makes sense to find out what Atleti legends think of the club and Simeone's approach. It turns out the Argentinean couldn't establish a firm relationship with none other than Fernando Torres.

In 2020, in the Amazon documentary 'Fernando Torres: The Last Symbol' the Spaniard said: "I don't think he ever saw me as his starting striker. I never asked Simeone for an explanation because I know how he is.

"I don't know if it was something personal, professional or a bit of both. I could accept that maybe I wasn't up to starting 40 games but I could never understand how he wouldn't even have me sitting on the bench!"

Another attacker, Diego Costa, didn't hit out at Simeone but was brutally honest speaking about the level of the club.

Speaking on Canal Pilhado on YouTube in 2022, he said: "Atletico Madrid is not at a level to challenge in Europe. European level? No, I'm not going to lie to you. The training locker room was s*** and the academy is dead."

Doesn't look like a good place for a young talent, does it?
