PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi claims he was hot on the heels of Robert Lewandowski just before the striker opted to sign for Barcelona.
"I have a policy of not talking about players who are not at PSG and of transfers that will take place or that were supposed to take place. But it is no secret that Robert is an incredible striker," Al-Khelaifi told the media.
"All the clubs in the world noticed him and at some point thought about signing him. But Robert is today in Barcelona and I respect him.
"There weren't many strikers like that who scored goals in almost every game. He's a goal-scoring machine and a great guy. We met and I can only speak highly of him," the Qatari businessman added.
Lewandowski insisted it was only Barcelona for him when his time at Bayern Munich came to a halt. However, like many other Barca signings recently, Lewandowski decided to accept a lower salary than he would've earned elsewhere.
PSG were also reportedly interested in signing Pedri last summer but Barca have no intention of selling their gem.
