'Pep knows what I think': what Iniesta said when asked if Guardiola could tempt him to join Man City

"Guardiola knows what I think, what I want, and my desire is ending my career here [at Barcelona]," Andres Iniesta told Spanish radio station COPE (h/t Sky Sports) back in 2016.

"I'm very clear about what I say and what I think, everybody knows it. I would love to end my career at Barcelona. You have to ask the chiefs if they want to extend my contract. But I can only repeat that I want to retire at Barcelona."

Although Iniesta's time under Pep Guardiola was marked by numerous wins and trophies, including the treble of 2009, Andres has always been Barca through and through and stayed at the club after Pep left.

It's unclear if Iniesta will return to Barca in any foreseeable future but it's still an option. At least, Andres himself predicted a massive return of former stars to the club board.
