Deco 'travels to Brazil' to meet Barca's new signing: explained

Deco 'has travelled to Brazil' to meet Vitor Roque, reports La Vanguardia's Anais Marti.

Barca's sporting director wants to maintain contact with the new signing and explain if his January move to Blaugrana is possible.

There are three conditions of Roque's winter transfer – one of them is enough for the move to go through.

1. Selling players. Xavi isn't keen on this as he believes Barca's current squad is quite short.

2. Increasing the income by triggering levers. Barca are still waiting to receive the money from one of the investment funds they've been in talks with – it's not guaranteed that they will get it until January.

3. Adjusting players' salary. This is the most likely solution. Deco has been in talks with Frenkie de Jong (Barca's highest-paid player right now) over a salary cut which may help register Vitor Roque in January.

If Barca don't manage to make space for Vitor Roque, he will join the club in July.

Barcelona signed the 18-year-old striker for around €40m in the summer. He is out until December with a serious injury.

The youngster has scored 20 goals and provided 8 assists in 42 appearances for Athletico Paranaense.
