It's now been confirmed that Lionel Messi beat Erling Haaland to the Ballon d'Or by as much as 105 points.

Messi scored 462 points to beat Haaland who picked up 357 points to finish second.

It's obvious that Messi won the award quite convincingly. It wasn't a close call at all based on the points garnered. Leo was clear.

This is Messi's 8th Ballon d'Or award in his career. No player has ever won it more than five times.
