'They make Barcelona': 2 men Sir Alex Ferguson named as Barca's main weapons ahead of Champions League final

Speaking to the media ahead of the Champions League final in 2009, Sir Alex Ferguson singled out Barca's two major threats - Lionel Messi wasn't on the list.

"Guardiola and Iniesta make Barcelona," said Ferguson as cited by The Guardian. "Rather than their forwards, it's their midfield you have to watch."

"I'm not obsessed with Messi, Iniesta is the danger. He's fantastic. He makes the team work. The way he finds passes, his movement and ability to create space is incredible. He's so important for Barcelona."

No wonder why Sir Alex said that. Less than three weeks before that presser, Iniesta scored one of his most iconic goals against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

The tiny midfielder barely had room and time to prepare the shot: instead, he just went for it and boom! - Barca went all the way to the final.

That goal was the beginning of Barcelona's golden era. That season, the Catalans secured their first treble and went on to win 29 trophies in 11 seasons.
