Injury to Barca big defender worse than expected

Barcelona have confirmed a hamstring injury to Inigo Martinez suffered in the warmup for the game against Atletico Madrid.

"Tests carried out have revealed that Inigo Martinez has a right hamstring injury. He is out and his recovery will determine his availability," a club statement reads.

Early injury reports suggested that Martinez's injury was not serious and he was even tipped to feature against Girona this weekend but this is not the case.

A hamstring injury usually takes between four to six weeks to heal and in some cases could take longer.

That means, Martinez, like Ter Stegen, may be ruled out for the rest of the year. Hopefully, he recovers quickly to help the team.
