'They had it': Diego Simeone explains why Barca deserved win vs his Atleti side

 rallied themselves to defeat a stubborn 

 side at home on Sunday. It was a game of many chances but only one counted and it did for Barca. 

, it was that cutting edge that earned Barca all the points against his team on Sunday. 

"Barcelona deserved the win because they had the most beautiful aspect of this game, which is efficiency," Simeone said after the game. 

Stats show that Barca had fewer shots on target (2) than Atleti (4) but the deciding moment came midway through the second half when Raphinha slipped through Joao Felix who chipped Oblak for the winning goal.

lewy missed chances not a big deal. if u watch city Tottenham game yesterday, even halaand was just wastingclear chances.
the problem is, messi Ronaldo Suarez have set a high bar standard for any striker, remember lewy was also a top poacher. just a bad spell

@abdussalam- I want to believe it's just a bad spell as well; but our prolific 9 has been suffering a slump since his return from the World Cup. It has been sputters here and there, but mostly a dry slump. Comparing this dry spell to Halaand's unusual missed chances in one game, a scoring monster who has already broken another European scoring record this season, is probably not entirely accurate. 

Again, I hope he recovers; we are evidently suffering without his contributions. However, considering how long he has been struggling, I worry a tad. That's all.

This team is a decent side, they just need to come to every game with this attitude, not just against the big boys or in must-win situations. Play Alaves, Osasuna, Almeria and co with this same energy level, and winning games and titles will be a given.

Are people supposed to apologize for their prediction? Am sure everybody's prediction was wrong, even the one that said we will win 3:1. If they know the result for certain it will not be a prediction now, will it?

Excellent analysis as always Soccerates, simply excellent.
I particularly liked this point:

If we could penetrate from either side of the wing Soccerates, it would free up Lewandowski in the middle in my opinion. Joao Cancelo did it against Porto and scored.

@Nikolaos- Good to hear from you, my friend. Your assessment is pinpoint accurate, I must say. I agree that our wingers can do more to open up the space for him, which only frustrates one the more that he is so errant with the few golden chances he does get throughout the game. Let's hope he cleans up his act; otherwise, it could prove a long season for him, and sadly, for every culér who has to watch every game on a knife-edge.

Gundo-Frenkie-Pedri is a spicy combo in that midfield🥵. Evidently, Pedri is still working his way back, but that's the combo for now. But I must say I just love Frenkie's confidence on the ball.

Cancelo on either side of the full back position, with any combination of Araujo, Kounde, Christensen, and Indigo, is a vice-grip on defense.  Kounde was incredible at RB, and Araujo and Christensen were impregnable on the backline.

I may like to see Joao and Rafa flanking Ferran as a 9 occasionally, as I'm not sure how much more my heart can stand Lewandowski's missed opportunities any longer. Though Raphina had a clear miss as well; however, Lewandowski squandered at least four chances. El Tigre's imminent arrival is a much needed blessing. Joao Felix harnessed all the negative comments his former teammates issued in the press about him and served his revenge at precisely the right temperature - 🥶. What a goal.

The team's work rate was impressive, pressing hard to win back the ball within seconds of losing it. However, they got careless in the second half and had a few defensive lapses, which could have been costly had Inaki Peña not proven himself a caped hero between the sticks again and again. We need to keep our focus for 90 minutes!

Finally, our forwards need to work on clinically and crititically finishing their opportunities on goal. We will pay dearly for missed chances in Europe; especially against teams who are merciless with their chances. This game should have easily been 4-0 or 5-1. We even had a four-on-one break during a counter-attack, which should at least have netted us a second goal in the dying minute of regulation, only for Lamine and Fermin to squander it with poor decision making...

...in the end, maybe that's the story of our struggle- the immaturity of youth players still plying their trade, coupled with the tired legs of veterans fighting the losing battle against the undefeated dragon of age and his father, Time. 

Important three points, nevertheless. Now we have to get ready for a dog fight against Girona.

We will have a perfect team when Lewandoski and Rafinha learn to score . The earlier we understand that goals makes the difference in a football match the better for us. And the sooner this attackers understand that scoring for the team is their sole responsibility the better for them too. There are occasions we might not be lucky as we did today. The attack should be helped in focussing on scoring . Just imagine if we had scored 4 goals in the first half it help reduce all the unnecessary stress we later put the team through and it is most of this unnecessary stress that always bring about injury to the players because they now have to work extra ordinarily to keep their victory or a times a draw . We played a sweet perfect first half , we dominated and become wasteful . That is completely not OK.
