Barcelona recorded 26 clean sheets in La Liga last season without conceding more than three goals in any league game. The one time they allowed three goals, against Valladolid, they already had the league title in the bag.
But we're staring at a different kettle of fish this season. Barca have already conceded 18 goals in 16 games. It took them 32 games to concede that many last season.
As for clean sheets, Barca have managed just seven in 16 games. And they recently got beaten 4-2 by Girona. It tells you that Barca's defence is nowhere near what it was last season.
That's probably why a Supercomputer at TheAnalyst tips Barca to finish third in La Liga this season, behind Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid.
After the loss to Girona, Barca's chances of winning the title have been sliced from 7.5% to a mere 4.3%. Atleti's has jumped to 9.9% and Real Madrid's to 80.5%.
Barca's 30.4% of finishing third is their best possible projection in the top four. Girona are predicted to finish fourth at 26.2% but they could also leapfrog Barca and finish third with a 27.6% chance of doing that. It all depends on how the season pans out:
