Luis Enrique says 6-1 Remontada as Barca coach was 'useless', rates Xavi ahead of PSG clash

For Luis Enrique, the Remontada 6-1 win by Barca against PSG back in 2017 was useless for the club because they couldn't win the Champions League that year.

"The Remontada was not the most important match of his career. No, because it was of no use," Enrique told the media.

"The Comeback did not help us win the Champions League. Juventus eliminated us. It was indeed a special game, not the most important game of my career as a coach.

"Everyone remembers the Remontada because before that PSG won 4-0. I remember the 6-1 too. That is part of history and I am very proud of it," Enrique added.

Enrique will be in the PSG dugout when Barca faces the Parisians in the Champions League quarter-final next month.

"Barcelona is the city where I spent most of my career. They are a very difficult and high-level team. We will have to prove that we deserve to qualify," Enrique said.

The Spanish boss also thinks Xavi has some advantage over him when he faces his former student in the big game.

"I don't know Xavi's work as a coach, but he knows my work because I trained him," Enrique said.

"I wish he, Guardiola, or Arteta would coach alongside me. Someone like Xavi has this level and has won the Champions League several times."

Barcelona will be the underdogs when they face PSG in April as the Parisians have a massive expensively assembled squad led by the enigmatic Kylian Mbappe.

Meanwhile, Barca are having to rely on teenagers and free agents due to their financial difficulties.
