Ronald Araujo has been sent back to Barcelona by Uruguay coach Marcelo Bielsa after a round of training sessions, the Uruguay Federation have confirmed.
Araujo was named among five players who will not be involved in Uruguay's game against African Champions Ivory Coast on Tuesday.
Araujo's dismissal from camp probably has to do with fatigue, not injury. The defender has complained of fatigue even before getting called up for March's international break.
"Physically I'm doing very well, but I'm a little tired after our last matches with Barcelona," Araujo said before travelling to join his Uruguay teammates.
"I'm ready to learn from Marcelo Bielsa, we're adjusting the details for the Copa America. The training sessions are important to define what the coach wants," he added.
Barca will be more than happy to have Araujo back unscathed ahead of a busy period of the season.
