Atletico Madrid are still monitoring the situation of Robert Lewandowski as they hope to sign him this summer, reports Sky Sport's Florian Plettenberg.
"I understand that he [Lewandowski] definitely wants to stay at FC Barcelona in the summer! He has no plans for a transfer at this stage," the top source adds.
Lewandowski has repeatedly stated he is happy at Barca but things could change quickly in the summer when a new coach replaces Xavi.
A similar scenario played out in 2020 when the then Barca coach Ronald Koeman shelved Luis Suarez for being 'too old'. The lethal striker joined Atletico Madrid and won the league that season.
In a year, Koeman was sacked and replaced by Xavi who has now announced he would leave for a sabbatical at the end of the season.
Lewandowski has scored 20 goals and nine assists in his 39 games this season. You can't say he's lost his scoring eyes despite clocking 35 last August.
