During the past week, Barcelona decided to honour Ivan Rakitic by officially listing him among their legendary players.
Reacting to the recognition, Rakitic said on X, "What an honour to enter the list of legends of this very special club alongside the great names who have worn its colors.🔵🔴
"I would like to thank the FC Barcelona institution for believing in me in the summer of 2014, to the president, the staff, all my teammates, and all the culés for their support and all the moments shared.🙏🏼🏆"
Rakitic was a tremendous midfielder during his days at Barcelona where he won 15 trophies in his 333 appearances. He also scored 40 goals before leaving the club.
Rakitic is among a list of ex-Barca players who were recently named among the club legends, including Pedro, Neymar and Dani Alves.
Rakitic currently plays his club football in Al-Shabab in Saudi Arabia after leaving Sevilla in January.
