Nico Williams has clearly become friends with Lamine Yamal and Pau Cubarsi while on international duty with Spain. The social media posts involving the trio have seen the talk about the 21-year-old potentially joining Barca re-emerge.
According to Diario Sport, the Catalans remain interested in the forward. They could sign him in the summer if they manage to sell players and balance the salary cap. However, the deal is unlikely at the moment.
The contracts between the club and the player remain as Barca allow themselves 'the right to dream'.
The 21-year-old has a €50m release clause in his Athletic Bilbao contract. The deal runs out in 2027. Sport say that he would love to join the Catalans but won't push for an exit from San Mames.
Williams has scored three goals and provided eight assists in 24 La Liga appearances so far this season.
