Xavi has dragged Manuel Jabois, a journalist with Spanish outlet El Laguero to court over a charge of defamation, multiple sources confirm.
In December a journalist Ramon Besa had written a publication in December where he labelled Barca 'the joke of Europe' after a Champions League group stage defeat to Royal Antwerp in Belgium.
While discussing the article on the program Jabois claimed that Xavi had messaged him privately to criticise him.
"Yes, I've been criticized once, but it was in private and I don't want to say it... It's just that it was Xavi," the journalist says on the program.
"I don't want to say it because it was in private, through messages, and to be a pretty dirty thing (...) He sent a series of messages and stuff. He won everything and he thought that winning makes you untouchable," Jabois added.
Xavi's entourage say the Barca coach has never spoken to this journalist, doesn't know him and doesn't even have his phone number.
It's shameful what some journalists in Spain can do to get attention. Perhaps Xavi his lawyers will teach this one a lesson.
