Barcelona have just two weeks to decide who will wear their number 10 shirt next season, Diario Sport have learned.
This season was the first time in nearly 100 years that Barcelona started a campaign without a player to wear their no.10 jersey. Thus, Barca missed out on some commercial and marketing revenue that comes with selling the iconic shirt.
However, Barca have a business decision to make in the next 14 days as their shirt sponsors and suppliers need to know who wears the shirt next season.
Barcelona have discarded the idea of giving the shirt to Ansu Fati as he's not expected to be part of the squad next season. Meanwhile, Gavi, Pedri and Lewandowski are also out of the question as they already wear their favourite iconic shirt numbers.
That leaves three best possible options for the Barca bosses to choose from.
1. Lamine Yamal. The Spanish sensation is likely to get the shirt and follow the same path as Ansu. Hopefully, he doesn't face the same demons his Spanish predecessor battled unsuccessfully.
2. Vitor Roque. Barca could decide to rubberstamp their faith in their big summer signing by handing the Brazilian the shirt. It would be a huge responsibility but not bigger than what the club paid for the 19-year-old.
3. Joao Felix. Barca president Joan Laporta is said to be a committed fan of the Portuguese winger. He may prove it by giving him the massive shirt no. After all, Felix is supposed to be a marquee signing at Barca.
