"I'm very excited about Jules [Kounde]. It was an almost personal signing of mine. He's one of the best defenders in the world at the moment and has many virtues," Xavi has told the media.
"He has to be a Barca defender. It doesn't matter in which position and how many defenders we play with. He is a defender and he is there to help the team like everyone else. And that has become clear," he added.
Xavi reportedly had a private chat with each of the players that joined Barcelona in the summer of 2022 – and Jules Kounde was one of them. The Frenchman instantly showed levels as a right-back in the following season, although he sometimes revealed his desire to play at centre-back on a permanent basis.
Despite the defender recovering his top form, Barca reportedly will consider the incoming offers for the 25-year-old, with Paris Saint-Germain interested.
