PSG knocked Barcelona out of the Champions League on Tuesday. The French side's manager Luis Enrique was asked about his Barcelona opposite number.
“Xavi is the ideal manager for Barça. I hope that he continues for many years,” Enrique said after the game, as quoted by Sportbible.
The 53-year-old's words were then relayed to Xavi. A journalist said: "Luis Enrique said that even without the red card PSG would have won anyway and he hopes you will be the coach of Barcelona for many years, what do you say?"
To which Xavi replied: "I say no to both"
Xavi announced a few months ago that he would be leaving the club at the end of the season. However, the Catalans have mounted a campaign to convince him to stay.
Enrique, who won the treble with Barca in 2015, has been linked with succeeding Xavi.
