Xavi told he's 'not thinking clearly' as Barca coach as indicting stat comes to light

Against PSG, Xavi was shown his third red card in just over two years of being Barcelona's head coach. In his 21 years as a senior player, Xavi only picked up two red cards.

"It shows there's a serious emotional involvement Xavi has with the club that's not allowing him to think clearly," ESPN pundit Gab Marcotti says.

"We've seen this before with Pep and Luis Enrique but Xavi was out of control against PSG. Barca lacked leadership off the bench because he picked up that red card 11 minutes into the second half."

Xavi cannot deny how emotional he always is on the Barca bench. When things go against Barca, the 44-year-old usually behaves like a die-hard Cule instead of a pragmatic tactician.

It's why Xavi has received more than 14 yellow cards as a Barca coach added to those red cards.

Xavi admitted the referee was right to send him off against PSG for his poor behaviour but he insisted the ref ruined the game for Barca by sending off Araujo in the first half.

In January, Xavi confirmed that being a Barca coach has taken a toll on his mental health which is why he will leave the job at the end of the season to rest.
