Frenkie de Jong won't play any part in Barcelona's remaining games this season due to injury. It is even claimed that the Dutchman may never play for the club again.
SPORT reports that Barcelona management will consider selling De Jong if a good offer arrives for him. De Jong’s contract situation is one of the major factors behind the club taking that stance with his future.
The Netherlands international is contracted to Barçc until 30 June 2026, a deal he signed in October 2020, at the height of the coronavirus pandemic, with Josep Maria Bartomeu’s previous board of directors.
The Dutchman took a pay cut at the time in return for recouping that money in the final years of his contract. Barca established contact with the player’s agent in October last year to offer him a new deal.
The caveat was that the new deal would be without a salary increase, but rather with a new adjustment. But De Jong has still not responded to Deco’s first proposal.
