Xavi plans to have Alejandro Balde as his starting left-back next season, per Sport's Sergi Capdevila.
Balde picked up an injury in Barca's Copa Del Rey elimination at the hands of Athletic Bilbao back in January and hasn't played since.
In Balde's absence, Joao Cancelo has stepped in to plug the gap at left-back but the Portuguese made some costly errors leading up to Barca's elimination from the Champions League and defeat to Real Madrid.
However, Balde's recovery has gone smoothly with the defender set to make Barca's squad for preseason.
Last season, Balde was named the best full-back in La Liga but such high standards have proved tough to replicate even before the injury.
The Spaniard appeared in 28 games for the Blaugrana before being sidelined. He managed one goal and an assist and helped his team record nine clean sheets.
