"I'm very excited and eager to start the pre-season," Xavi has told the media when asked about the fresh rumours about Barca's idea of sacking him.
"I understand the noise. The environment around the club is always like that. But no, I'm calm and ready to start next season.
"I said that we would compete for trophies next season, but we have to understand that this situation is not easy. We want to play the Suerpcup, we want to compete for trophies next season," he also said.
Although Barca are close to securing second place in La Liga at the end of the season, part of the board are said to be putting pressure on Joan Laporta to dismiss the club legend.
Laporta was said to be frustrated with what Xavi had said at one of the latest pressers. The head coach emphasised the importance of new signings and stated that the club are experiencing the worst financial situation in 25 years
