From Thursday night to Friday, the rumour mill went crazy about Xavi possibly getting the sack. Some sources even claimed it could happen before Barca faces Rayo Vallecano in their penultimate La Liga game this season.
When the rumours became too hot, Xavi sent a message of calm to his players.
"I told the players exactly the same words that I'm saying here. I have not noticed any concern [from the leadership], we are focused on Rayo Vallecano," Xavi told reporters.
Xavi's words confirm reports that Barcelona are yet to inform him of their decision to fire him.
Barca president Joan Laporta was so outraged that he called a crisis meeting at the club's offices on Friday where a decision was made about Xavi's future.
The outcome of that meeting will only become public knowledge at the end of the campaign.
