Rayo Vallecano head coach Inigo Perez has praised the quality of Xavi as a manager as he comes under intense pressure of being sacked by Barcelona.
Ahead of the game against Barca, Perez noted: “I expect the usual Barcelona at home. Xavi as a player has been a reference for everyone.
“Especially those of us who played in the centre of the field, and as a coach, I am seeing different tactical nuances, with modern structures. There is a transfer of what he was as a player to a coach, and he knows how to transmit it to the players.”
Xavi has recently dismissed claims that he’s on the verge of being fired, but the rumours refuse to go away. The Spaniard is reportedly set to have a meeting with Joan Laporta after the Vallecano game to discuss his future.
Xavi will be aiming to guide Barca to a big win against Vallecano to help them secure a top-two finish in the 2023/24 La Liga campaign.
