Speaking after Barcelona defeated Rayo Vallecano on Sunday, Xavi insisted that his Barca team played better football this season than last term.
However, Xavi concedes defeat in La Liga citing Real Madrid and Barca's affinity for forced and unforced errors.
"What changed this season was Real Madrid, they had a historic season. We're playing against one of the best teams, the Champions League finalist. We're competing against a super team," Xavi said.
"People will tell me that I'm speaking nonsense, but I think that we have improved this season compared to last. The difference is that last season we competed better in important matches. There were less errors and gifts," Xavi added.

Barca dropped points in important games against Girona and El Clasico. They also lost and dropped points against smaller teams like Villarreal, Getafe and Mallorca. Thus, Real Madrid won the league with 5 games to spare.
In the Champions League, Barca were bundled out by PSG despite being favourites to go through. Perhaps Barca lost the league for tactical reasons too.
