How Hansi Flick could lineup at Barca with his Champions League-winning formation

Hansi Flick was so successful at Bayern that he won SIX trophies in the span of eight months between 2020 and 2021. That included the Champions League title on the back of his final year as Bayern coach.

Barcelona are all set to appoint the German tactician as Xavi's replacement, according to multiple sources.

If Flick does indeed take on the big job at Barca, you wouldn't put it past him to set up his team in a similar formation to the one he used in winning the Champions League in 2020.

Flick's unplayable formation at Bayern

That formation was a 4-2-3-1. The system proved almost unplayable for the rest of Europe. Recall that they demolished Chelsea 7-1 and smashed Barca 8-2 en route to that final against PSG.

Robert Lewandowski was an important player for Flick then, scoring 15 goals in the Champions League and 55 in all competitions — thankfully he's at Barca now, although way older.

Flick also relied heavily on his fast wingers and smart midfielders to create chances and overwhelm the opposition.

Here's Flick's XI in the Champions League final v PSG.

4-2-3-1 with Flick at Barca

Flick already has the tools to reinvent the 4-2-3-1 at Barca but you'd expect him to ask for one or two signings to make it work perfectly.

One player he'd take from Bayern is Joshua Kimmich. Barca have been strongly linked with the midfielder who has one year left on his contract.

If Barca could get any of Leroy Sane, Bernardo Silva or Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, their team would become just as unplayable as the Bayern squad under Flick in 2019-2021. But we all know how Barca's hands are tied behind their backs by financial fair play constraints.

Regardless, here's a terrifying lineup we could see from Flick if Kimmich is their only summer signing.
