Xavi: 'We wanted to continue. I am sad'

Xavi almost cried after Barca's final game of the season against Sevilla.

"I'm trying to control my emotions, but it's very difficult," Xavi told the media.

"We prepared for this match in the same way as we did in the first one. We did a good job and our hope was to continue.

"I'm proud of our work. It was a true honour to manage the club of my life.

"I think that our work has not been appreciated enough. I took over when the team was in 9th place, finished the season in 2nd place, and won the league the next season.

"I was convinced that we would improve a lot next season.

"Yesterday I was sad, today too," Xavi concludes.

Xavi was fired during the week with German coach Hansi Flick expected to replace him.
