Speaking to Diario Sport, former Spain international Santi Cazorla said: "From the first day at Al-Sadd, Xavi had clear ideas.
"A total Barca style of football. Xavi is a Taliban of possession and the game. He is flexible too: he changes the formation based on how his opposition play."
Xavi is believed to be close to taking over at Barcelona now that president Joan Laporta had finally sacked Ronald Koeman.
It is common practice to see Xavi's Al-Sadd record 70–75 per cent possession in a single game although it remains to be seen whether he will be able to recreate that in La Liga.
