'Proud to be the best French striker in history': Karim Benzema reacts to beating Thierry Henry record

Karim Benzema's strike against Sevilla on Sunday took his tally of goals for Real Madrid to 295 (in addition to the 66 he scored for Lyon).

That means he now has 361 goals to his name, just one more than compatriot Thierry Henry. As a result, Benzema is now the French forward with most club goals in history.

Henry contributed 228 goals for Arsenal followed by what he scored for the likes of Barcelona and AS Monaco.

Reacting to breaking Henry's record, Benzema tweeted: "Nice battle the team! Proud to have become the best French striker in the history…"
