Bundesliga side Mainz 05 will not sign any unvaccinated players in the future, claims the club’s sporting director Christian Heidel.
He told Mallorca Zeitung: “The club has decided not to sign any more unvaccinated players in the future. We'll go through with that too. But there are hardly any unvaccinated players left in Germany.”
Mainz have a 100% vaccination rate, with every single player in their squad being vaccinated against Covid-19.
Most of the Bundesliga clubs have a strong Covid-19 vaccination rate, but there are some still hesitant over taking the vaccine.
Bayern Munich have some players yet to take the Covid-19 vaccine.
But the club reportedly deciding to dock the unvaccinated players’ wages when they’re either Covid-19 positive or isolating due to close contact with a positive case.
