Ajax striker Sebastien Haller was born and started his professional career in France but in 2020, he chose to represent Ivory Coast at the international level.
There's no doubt in his passion about it as a reporter from Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf found out.
In an interview, Haller was asked whether he'd prefer to stay at Ajax instead of going to Cameroon to play at the African Cup of Nations.
"This question shows the disrespect for Africa," the forward's blunt answer was.
"Would this question ever get put to a European player ahead of the Euros? Of course, I am going to the AFCON."
Earlier, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp was accused of 'insulting' Africa after calling it a 'small tournament'. The comments were meant to be ironic, but some people took it seriously and were offended by them.
