Referee of Tunisia-Mali game previously suspended due to corruption allegations back in 2018

Referee Janny Sikazwe made headlines on Wednesday when he twice ended the African Cup of Nations clash between Mali and Tunisia before full time.

As it turns out, Sikazwe was suspended by CAF in 2018 over allegations of corruptions after his controversial officiating in a game between Esperance and Primiero Agosto. FIFA lifted the ban in 2019.

In the game between Tunisia and Mali, Sikazwe shocked onlookers and angered the Tunisian bench when he blew the full-time whistle on the 85th minute.

He later restarted the game, but still blew the final whistle 20 seconds early.

During the game, Sikazwe refused a VAR check for a controversial Mali red card.
