Burnley 'consider' Andy Carroll as surprise replacement for fresh Newcastle signing Chris Wood

Burnley are looking for a new striker after Chris Wood joined their opponents in the relegation battle Newcastle. Ironically, one of the players they are reportedly interested in has been associated with Newcastle for a long time.

As per the Daily Mail, Burnley are considering Andy Carroll as a potential signing.

The 33-year-old is currently at Reading after joining the Championship club on a short-term deal with a wage of £1,000-per-week. He's out of contract this month already.

Carroll's motivation to join Reading was to prove his form. He may have scored just one goal in seven games, but there's already plenty of interest in the ex-England international.

Before that move, Carroll was released by Newcastle as a free agent last summer. Now, Burnley who are furious at losing Wood to their rivals might give the experienced striker a chance to pay his former side back.
