When asked about whether his AS Roma side slacked off in the second half of their 4-2 win over Empoli after gaining a 4-0 lead in the first 40 minutes, Jose Mourinho said: “Yes we could’ve controlled the game better, but this is still a big achievement.
“t’s not easy to win 4-2 here. Coming into this game we already knew that Lazio, Atalanta, and Fiorentina all dropped points, so it was important for us to win and we did it.
“As for the second half, we did it for the audience. They would’ve turned their TV’s off it we went up 5-0,” the Portuguese manager laughed.
Mourinho’s side are currently gunning for a top-4 finish in the Serie A and are currently in 5th position in the standings.
They’re 4 points behind fourth-place Juventus and need to maintain a winning run to get a Champions League spot at the end of the season.
