Russia has launched a bid to host the UEFA Euro 2028 or 2032 edition despite being suspended by both UEFA and FIFA competitions after they started a war on Ukraine last month.
UEFA confirmed that the Russian Football Federation had indeed declared their interest to host either of the two editions.
The Russian Federation has confirmed that despite their ban from competitions, there are no regulations in place that can stop them from lodging a bid for the hosting rights of tournaments.
Russia hosted the 2018 FIFA World Cup and are hoping to hold another major international competition in the near future.
That being said, they are very unlikely to be given the rights to do so as major football entities keep laying sanctions on them since the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
UK and Ireland are reportedly the favorites to get the hosting rights for the Euro 2028 edition.
