Speaking to CBS Sports, Thierry Henry said: "I think Karim Benzema is currently in front [in the 2022 Ballon d'Or race].
"But if Sadio Mane wins [the Champions League] with Liverpool and they do the quadruple he will be a strong rival and it would be great for Africa.
"But I am betting on the Frenchman [to win the Ballon d'Or]."
Benzema is having the best season of his career at the age of 34, scoring 44 goals in 44 games across all competitions for Real Madrid.
However, Mane has led Senegal to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar and was a key player during the country's winning 2022 Africa Cup of Nations run.
