It was well established that Man City were seriously interested in Marc Cucurella but could not reach an agreement with Brighton over the transfer fee.
A couple of weeks after the Spaniard joined Chelsea for £55m, City signed an alternative option for a small fraction of that fee.
The club's website confirmed the arrival of Sergio Gomez from Anderlecht on a four-year deal. City are understood to have agreed an initial £11m fee for the Spaniard.
Just like Cucurella, Gomez is a Barcelona academy graduate who is capable of playing not only as a left-back but further forward, too. He's also just 21 years old, three years younger than Cucurella.
