Szczesny recalls Wenger’s reaction when he got caught smoking a cigarette in the dressing room

In his Arsenal days, Wojciech Szczęsny was far from being an example of athleticism, according to his own words.

Despite being Arsenal's No 1 man between the sticks under Arsene Wenger for a long while, the Polish shot-stopper had some unhealthy habits and was even caught smoking in the dressing room after a match against Southampton.

Unluckily for Wojciech, that game ended in defeat for the Gunners and Arsene was not going to let the Pole get away with it.

"I used to smoke regularly, and the coach knows that," Wojciech Szczęsny told The Arsenal Podcast. "I thought that no one would be able to see me, and I lit a cigarette, but someone saw me, and informed the coach, and after two days he asked me, and I told him yes, and he signed a penalty against me."

The penalty was squad omission. Wojciech Szczęsny returned in goal only for the 2015 FA Cup Final against Aston Villa. Arsenal won that game 4-0 but for Szczęsny it was his last appearance for the Londoners.
