'The coach told me that Maguire had to play because of the money they paid for him': Rojo absolutely destroys Maguire and former coach in honest interview

Marcos Rojo, a former player for Manchester United, has made some harsh comments about his ex-teammate Harry Maguire. Rojo now plays for Boca Juniors in Argentina, but during his seven-year stint with United, he played in 122 matches.

Rojo's playing time at United decreased over time, and during the 2019/20 season, he only started in one Premier League game. Meanwhile, Maguire joined the team for a record-breaking fee of £80 million from Leicester and eventually became the club's captain after Ashley Young left for Inter Milan.

Rojo was not happy about being benched in favour of Maguire, who he accused of "making mistakes every week". Rojo also alleges that the United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, told him that Maguire had to be selected because of the large amount of money the team had spent on him.

In an interview with TyC Sports, Rojo said:

"In 2019 I was playing in the Europa League, but I was really angry with the Manchester coach [Solskjaer] because he was putting Maguire instead of me, who thank god finally they took him out from the starting line-up for Licha [Lisandro] Martinez.

"One day I went to Solskjaer’s office to tell him to let me leave for the other club or put me in the starting line-up, but he told me that Maguire had to play because of the money they paid for him. "

"He [Maguire] was making huge mistakes already and I told Solskjaer: 'Son of a b***h let me play because this guy is making huge mistakes every week' [laughs]."
