'Muchas gracias…fútbol': David Silva retires from football due to a devastating injury

Former Manchester City star David Silva has officially retired from football at the age of 37. The Spanish midfielder shared an emotional video on social media, showcasing the highlights of his illustrious career.

"Today is a sad day for me," he began. "Today it is time to say goodbye to what I have dedicated my whole life to. Today it is time to say goodbye to my colleagues, who are like a family to me. I will miss you very much.

"Ches [Valencia], Armeros [Eibar], Celtinas [Celta Vigo], Citizens [Man City] and Txuri Urdines [Real Sociedad]. Thank you because you have made me feel at home."

Silva spent the past three years at Real Sociedad and was considering retirement after a serious knee injury last season. During his time at City, Silva made a remarkable 436 appearances, which is the 10th highest in the club's history.

He also scored an impressive 77 goals for the club. Silva's legacy at Manchester City will undoubtedly be remembered for years to come.
