Team with most bloated Premier League squad named — not Chelsea

The Premier League is soon to kick off and some teams have bigger squads than others. But who has the most players on their hands?

We'll say it straight away — it's Man United. They have 36 players as part of their first team squad listed on Transfermarkt.

The Red Devils are followed by Nottingham Forest (35), Arsenal (34) and Chelsea (34).

The thinnest squad in the league belongs to Liverpool, followed by West Ham who go to extreme ways to sign new players.

Why is Man United's squad so big then? That's because they have way too many unwanted players and are bad at selling those.

The likes of Eric Bailly and Brandon Williams are clearly not in Erik ten Hag's plans but they also have nowhere to go, either.

Then you've got players with a slightly bigger squad role who the Red Devils would gladly sell -- think about Donny van de Beek or Fred -- but once again there doesn't seem to be many suitors to make it a bidding war.

Finally, young players like Hannibal Mejbri or Alvaro Fernandez are listed as first teamers although they're unlikely to play a role this season. Oh, and don't forget Mason Greenwood.
