As reported by Fabrizio Romano, former captain of Olympique Marseille, Dimitri Payet has signed a contract with Brazil club Vasco da Gama.
Romano tweeted: "Dimitri Payet to Vasco da Gama, here we go! French star has just signed contract valid until June 2025. Former OM player rejected proposals from France as he wanted to respect Marseille. He’s ready for new chapter in Brazil."
Dimitri Payet had choices – Saudi Arabia was an option. Another path led to a fresh European championship, building on his success at West Ham a few years back. Staying in France was on the table too, with Nantes and Rennes showing interest.
But the most surprising move of all was his final choice. Payet decided to choose a team which are unsuccessfully fighting relegation in Brasil Serie A.
