'You have to change the manager': Laurent Blanc tells his own club to sack him

After Olympique Lyonnais lost 4-1 to Montpellier HSC at home on Saturday, Lyon coach Laurent Blanc was asked what needed to change to fix things. The answer was the manager.

The ex-Manchester United player, who did well back home, became Lyon's coach in October last year. He's won just under half of the game he's led, but due to a slow start this season, he's given the higher-ups the option to replace him.

On Prime Video Sport, when asked what had to be changed, Blanc replied: "You have to change the manager."

He was then asked if he wanted to leave Lyon, to which he responded, "No, but you’re asking me what has to be done, and I’m saying you might have to change the manager."

Lyon had a tough summer during transfers and a challenging pre-season on the field. They lost their first two Ligue 1 games. In the first match, despite creating chances, Blanc's team couldn't turn them into goals and faced a defeat at RC Strasbourg Alsace.
