'Let's be serious here': Football fans name worst striker in Premier League

In a football league with teams like Luton Town and Sheffield United, nine-time league champions Everton may still be the worst.

The Toffees have lost the opening two games of the new campaign with an average scoreline of 5-0. No goals again as Sean Dyche has to scratch his head about how to find goals because Neil Maupay is clearly not the answer.

The 27-year-old Frenchman drew another blank and is now without a goal in 27 consecutive league games. He last scored in September 2022, his only goal all last season.

Many Premier League fans on social media think they know who the worst striker in the league is.

@nobodhee: "Maupay is the worst player in the league. Let's be serious here."

@axeplace: "I think I might have to go with Antony here. Maupay might be the worst player in this league."

@ghtcwavy: "I’m not being funny, Neal Maupay might be the worst player in the league."

@AnfieldKnow: "Maupay might be the worst footballer in the Premier League."

@_Will30: "Neal Maupay could be the worst footballer I’ve seen appear in the Premier League."

Maupay was close to breaking the barren spell (at 1:20 in the video below) but the ball flew at the goalkeeper.

Maupay used to be somewhat prolific for Brighton, scoring up to 10 Premier League goals for the Seagulls before they became a top side.

However, as this often happens to Brighton footballers, they fail to perform outside the system.

Everton would want to hope Dominic Calvert-Lewin could save them but the striker can't catch a break with injuries. He barely played in the last two years and when he finally returned last weekend, he was forced off with a nasty head injury he suffered in a collision.
